In connection with the alleged child abuse case that was reported in Pfsutsero under Phek district, the Phek police have arrested the accused from Chümoukedima under Diphupar PS.
In a press release, Phek police stated that a written complaint was received at Pfutsero police station from Kuzholuyi, resident of Rukizu colony, Pfutsero on June 29, 2025 at around 7pm.
Police said an incident of severe abuse of an 11-year-old child allegedly by her stepmother was reported in the complaint.
During investigation, police said it was ascertained that the alleged accused person moved from Pfutsero to Chümoukedima before FIR was filed. When police team reached that Chümoukedima address, police said she had absconded in early morning hours.
However, police informed that through sustained efforts and utilizing all available means, the alleged accused was arrested later on. A team from Phek police arrested the alleged accused from Diphupar PS with assistance from Chümoukedima and Dimapur police.
Following her arrest, police said the alleged accused was brought back to Phek district by Phek police team and a case was registered. Police said investigation was going on as per legal procedures.
Further, police said victim was in safe place receiving care protection and counselling at Sakhi One Stop centre Phek and treatment at Phek district hospital.
Meanwhile, Phek police have thanked various civil society organizations and the general public for their continued faith, trust and support in Phek police’s endeavour of maintaining a peaceful atmosphere in the district.
Police also requested the people to coordinate with Phek police in the future also. Besides, Phek police has urged everyone to refrain from any kind of child abuse/cruelty as it was a punishable crime under section 75 of Juvenile Justice Act 2015.
