Police arrest butcher after viral video sparks health concern

Staff Reporter

A non-Naga butcher was arrested by Dimapur Police on Wednesday morning after a video showing him carrying injections in the same bag as beef went viral. The 32-year-old man, reportedly from Golaghat, who owns a meat shop at Lingrijan area near Tuesday bazaar junction, was apprehended following widespread outrage and concern.

Authorities took the man to the West Police Station for further investigation. During questioning, he claimed that he was HIV-positive and that the injection found in his bag was meant for his medical treatment. Officials are currently awaiting medical reports to confirm his statement. The police have registered a case against the individual, who remains in custody as the investigation continues.
