A police team from West Police Station, Dimapur conducted a surprise raid at one Punjab Hotel, Dhobinalla, here on Monday and seized around 290 cases of assorted Indian Made Foreign Liquor (IMFL).
Speaking to Nagaland Post, DSP, probation, Johnny N. Patton said, they started the raid at around 3 p.m.
Patton, who was there at the site overseeing the confiscating procedure of the seized liquor, said they initiated the raid after receiving reports and complaints from the public.
Eight employees of the hotel were arrested during the raid, Patton said.
According to him the identity of the actual owner was yet to be ascertained and that they were investigating the matter to properly identify the actual culprit since there were two similar names involved in the case.
The IMFL was reportedly stocked at the residence of the hotel employees.
The seized items along with the arrested individuals were later taken to West PS.
He further disclosed that West PS had been routinely conducting surprise raids on booze joints under its jurisdiction in the past few days resulting in curbing of the sale of alcohol to a great extent.
