As many as 3,377 candidates from Dimapur, Chümoukedima and Niuland districts are set to appear for Nagaland police open recruitment rally for 144 police constable posts.
Recruitment rally would be held from January 7-13, 2026 excluding Sunday (January11).
Briefing media persons here on Monday, commissioner of police (CP) Dimapur, Aotula T. Imchen, informed that the 144 posts—comprising 127 male and 17 female vacancies—have been allocated to three districts and distributed among 14 Naga tribes as per an addendum issued on November 6, 2025.
The recruitment process is being conducted by a six-member District Level Screening Committee headed by CP Dimapur, with DCP traffic as member secretary, three other police officers and representatives from the district administration.
CP assured that the entire process would be conducted in a transparent, fair and rule-based manner. Owing to large number of applicants, document verification was carried out on January 5 and 6.
The physical recruitment rally would commence on January 7, starting with female candidates of all tribes reporting in the first shift at 6am.
The selection process includes physical standard measurement (height, weight and chest), medical screening, and a physical efficiency test (PET) comprising running, pull-ups, high jump and long jump. Disqualifications would be carried out stage-wise, with candidates informed of the reasons for rejection and acknowledgements obtained on scorecards.
To ensure transparency, all stages would be conducted under CCTV surveillance, standardized score sheets would be used, results would be displayed publicly and grievance redressal desks would be established. Representatives of civil society organisations (CSOs) from Dimapur, Chümoukedima and Niuland would also be present during the rally, she added.
Candidates qualifying in the physical rally would appear for a written examination in a 1:10 ratio, followed by an interview in a 1:3 ratio, culminating in the final merit list.
Emphasising strict discipline and safety, CP Dimapur said that adequate medical and emergency services, crowd management measures and separate arrangements for male and female candidates have been put in place.
She said that mobile phones and electronic gadgets would be prohibited inside the recruitment venue, and any malpractice, impersonation or attempt to influence the process, would result in immediate disqualification.
Applicants have been advised to adhere strictly to the tribe-wise and roll number-wise reporting schedule, carry their admit cards and valid identification, and follow official instructions.
People have been advised not to believe rumours but to rely only on official information.
Imchen stated that the Nagaland police and the state government were committed to selecting physically fit, mentally alert and disciplined youth.
CP said she hoped for smooth and peaceful conduct of the recruitment rally.
The tribe-wise allocation of posts includes: Angami (18), Ao (29), Chakhesang (6), Chang (1), Khiamniungan (2), Konyak (2), Lotha (13), Phom (2), Pochury (1), Rengma (3), Sangtam (4), Sumi (57), Yimkhiung (3) and Zeliang (3).
