Police recruitment: CDVCA demands review of categorization

Taking exception to the state government’s decision to place Chümoukedima district under open category for the upcoming recruitment of police constables (GD), Chümoukedima District Village Councils’ Association (CDVCA) has demanded immediate review of categorization and that all permissible job opportunities in the district in all the state departments should mandatorily be filled up by indigenous inhabitants of Chümoukedima district only.
In a representation to deputy chief minister (home), CDVCA convenor Razouvotuo Chatsu and spokesperson Sebastian Zumvu said they failed to understand why Chümoukedima district (as well as two other districts) should be placed in the open category as if there were no indigenous inhabitants in the district.
CDVCA expressed belief that the district was created with the aim of giving equitable opportunities to the indigenous inhabitants of Chümoukedima. “We utterly resent the move to deprive our children to compete amongst themselves for job avenues, by enabling candidates from other districts to compete for the limited seats allotted to Chümoukedima district,” the association stated.
Acknowledging the prerogative of the government to take decisions, the CDVCA has, however, opined that in the instant case the decision was biased and prejudiced towards the prospects and future of the indigenous inhabitants of the district.
While anticipating a positive response, CDVCA has assured to extend full support to the government for the betterment of the district, state and society at large in the days to come.
