RPP bats for ‘Survival Nagaland Movement 2’

DIMAPUR, SEP 7 (NPN): Expressing serious concern over the issue of illegal immigration in the state, Rising Peoples’ Party (RPP) has emphasised the need to form “a Survival Nagaland movement 2” taking inspiration from the “Survival Mokokchung” launched by the Ao Students’ Conference (AKM) in 2007 aimed at tracking and deporting illegal immigrants.

In a press release, RPP said that the stakeholders especially the Naga Students’ Federation (NSF) over the decades had made many actionable moves to curb the influx. However, RPP said that the society at large needed to come together—CSOs, tribal bodies, youth organisations, student organisations and the political parties.

“It’s imperative that a pan-Nagaland youth force/body tasked solely for the purpose of checking illegal immigration in the state be formed without delay,” RPP said. It suggested that the tribal bodies, student bodies and youth bodies of the foothill areas of Nagaland needed to take the lead in forming the foothill area youth force.

RPP said Nagas society was deeply divided due to various contentious issues. However, it said that the issue of illegal immigration was “an existential threat” for Naga people.

Asserting that unity was the need of the hour in tackling the issue, RPP appealed to all the “patriotic people” of the state, especially the tribal youth bodies, to consider its opinion with an open mind.
