‘BJP’s three-pronged strategy- vote, seat, chanda chori’: Cong
NEW DELHI/ LUCKNOW, JUL 5 (PTI/IANS): The Congress on Sunday launched a sharp attack on the BJP-RSS over the alleged embezzlement of donations at the Ram Temple in Ayodhya, calling it a “scam” and accusing Prime Minister Narendra Modi and Home Minister Amit Shah of maintaining silence on the issue.
Congress general secretary Jairam Ramesh alleged that the BJP’s strategy was “vote chori, seat chori, chanda chori” and termed the RSS statement on the issue “disgraceful and shameful”.
“Donations running into thousands of crores have been siphoned off. Of course, there should be an inquiry by a sitting Supreme Court judge, of course the toughest action should be taken against all the accused but the silence of the prime minister and the home minister is shocking,” Ramesh said.
“We expect the prime minister, who took credit for building the Ram Temple and inaugurating it on January 22, 2024, just before the Lok Sabha elections, after which they ended up losing Ayodhya to make a statement. They have been completely silent,” he said.
Referring to the electoral bonds scheme, Ramesh alleged that “chanda do, dhanda lo” was part of BJP’s functioning and claimed those associated with the Shri Ram Janmabhoomi Teerth Kshetra Trust were trusted by BJP-RSS. He also questioned the role of former principal secretary to the PM, Nipendra Mishra, alleging the entire system was interconnected and that “nothing escapes the other’s attention”.
The alleged embezzlement came to light after a Special Investigation Team constituted by the Uttar Pradesh government submitted its preliminary findings, following which an FIR was registered on June 25. Eight accused have been arrested and nearly Rs 80 lakh in cash, besides some foreign currency, has been recovered.
BJP accuses Oppn of insulting Hindu faith
IANS: BJP national president Nitin Nabin Sunday hit back at Congress leader Rahul Gandhi, Samajwadi Party chief Akhilesh Yadav and AAP convener Arvind Kejriwal over their remarks on the Ram Temple donation theft controversy, accusing them of insulting the Hindu faith.
Nabin said followers of Sanatan Dharma would not tolerate such insults and warned the Opposition against underestimating Hindu sentiments. He alleged that Opposition leaders remained silent when Hindu deities were insulted. Highlighting the BJP’s commitment to preserving cultural heritage, he cited the Ram Temple and Kashi Vishwanath Dham projects. Nabin also claimed Uttar Pradesh had transformed from “mafia raj” to a leading state in law and order, development and good governance.
