KOHIMA, JUN 18 (NPN): The three-day polyclinic conducted at Urban Primary Health Centre (UPHC), Seikhazou under the Health Grants component of the 15th Finance Commission 2021–22 concluded on Thursday with a total of 253 patients availing specialist consultation and treatment services.
Medical Officer, UPHC Seikhazou, Dr. Bilva Yalie described the programme as fairly successful and stated that feedback received from patients had been encouraging.
She said many patients expressed satisfaction as they were able to access specialist healthcare services at their doorstep without having to travel to district hospitals or other healthcare facilities.
According to Dr. Yalie, several patients conveyed relief and appreciation over the availability of specialist doctors at the centre, particularly those who otherwise would have had to undertake long journeys for consultation and treatment. She noted that the overall response from the public indicated that the initiative had been well received.
Dr. Yalie informed that a total of 253 patients attended the polyclinic during the three-day programme. She said the centre intends to continue organising similar polyclinics every month until November, covering six specialist disciplines. To ensure greater public participation, she said information on upcoming polyclinics would be disseminated through various social media platforms and community bulletins, with special efforts to reach people living in peripheral areas.
She further stated that specialist doctors were able to provide the necessary treatment and services available at the centre. Patients requiring further investigations, specialised tests or advanced management were referred to Naga Hospital Authority Kohima (NHAK) and other appropriate healthcare facilities.
She added that no serious cases were reported during the programme.
On Wednesday, specialist services were provided by Dermatologist, State Mental Health Institute (SMHI) Kohima, Dr. Victor Semy; Paediatrician NHAK, Dr. Khriemenuo Koza; and ENT Specialist, Nagaland Institute of Medical Sciences and Research (NIMSR), Dr. Avibo S. Jakhalu. On the final day, Medicine Specialist NHAK, Dr. Senjele Kath, attended to patients.
