Pongom Lam wins ‘Best Poet of the Year’ at National Literary Award

Young and promising writer from Nagaland, Pongom Lam, won National Literary Award as “Best Poet of The Year 2023” with his latest book “Footprints” recognised by Print Foundation, Delhi.


Pongom Lam hails from Noklak district. Lam as a prolific writer has authored several books and won multiple awards including the “Best Poem of The Year 2019-2020” by All Northeast Featured Poetry Award, “Poem of The Year 2021” recognised by Local For Vocal, Northeast Poetry Award. He is also a recipient of “Best Poet of The Year, Youth Impact Award 2022” by Voice of Northeast, Words Fest 2022. He loves to depict and pour out his thoughts in the form of words, weaved into poetry, nature, inspiration, ecstasy, youth and realities of life and emotions.


He believed that just giving a voice to the pieces was not enough, but reading it whole heartedly and in a way that will touch the heart of many was what he felt brought poetry to life. The young writer always viewed that almost everything they enjoy today was hard yesterday. Therefore, his write ups hope to imbue positive thinking to the readers.
