Advisor for Social Welfare, Wangpang Konyak, launched the Poshan Kit distribution programme in Mon district on June 20 at Konyak Union Hall, Mon Town.
According to DIPR, Wangpang thanked sponsors, supporters and the department for the initiative. He said the Poshan Kit programme aims to improve the nutrition of children, adolescent girls, pregnant women and lactating mothers, and urged beneficiaries to use the kits for their well-being.
Social Welfare secretary, Bodeno S. Colo, expressed appreciation to UNISED and Union Minister for their support, and acknowledged MP Rajya Sabha, Phangnon Konyak, for her contribution. She appealed to all stakeholders to continue supporting health initiatives.
Deputy Commissioner Mon, Wennyei Konyak, noted that Mon is among the most malnourished districts in the state and thanked the department and UNISED for their support. He urged beneficiaries to use the kits properly and called on Anganwadi workers to follow government guidelines.
Representatives from the Unit of Science & Educational Development (UNISED), Kanpur—Programme Managers Vikas Mar and Abhishek—shared that 21,650 Poshan Kits are being distributed in Mon district.
The programme was chaired by Social Welfare Director, Tosheli Zhimomi, who informed that Mon has 403 Anganwadi centres: 97 in Aboi, 73 in Mon, 55 in Phomching, 57 in Wakching, 49 in Tizit and 72 in Tobu. She said kits will be distributed across all districts in Nagaland. A total of 270 beneficiaries from 18 Anganwadi centres attended the launch.
The programme concluded with a vote of thanks by Deputy Director, Social Welfare, T. Neingusalie.
