
The first week activities of Poshan Maah 2021, under Poshan Abhiyan, a central government scheme was launched in Kiphire and Peren on September 1 to ensure community mobilisation and bolster people’s participation to improve nutritional outcomes for pregnant women, lactating mother, children and adolescent girls. Poshan Maah 2021 has been subdivided into weekly themes.
Kiphire: The launching programme of Poshan Maah 2021 under the department of social and welfare was held in Hopongkyu memorial hall Kiphire with ADC Kiphire Rahul Mali as special guest.
In his speech, ADC highlighted on eating the right amounts of fruits and food for a healthy life.
ADC also stressed on the mortality rate of infants and mothers in Kiphire district and mentioned on steps to be taken in order to avoid it.
The programme witnessed participation of various line departments, local leaders and Anganwadi workers and helpers.
Peren: Integrated Child Development Services (ICDS) project under the department of social welfare, Peren organised the launching programme of Poshan Maah 2021 on the theme “converging towards a healthy walk through life” in the women welfare conference hall, Jalukie town.
According to a DIPR report, while speaking at the programme, CDPO Jalukie, Namhuheing spoke on the major activities to be conducted during Poshan Maah.
He emphasised on the importance to prevent and reduce under nutrition and stunting of children and women, anaemia and low birth rate.
He also informed that a proper diet could ensure that the body was in good state.
Further, Namhuheing encouraged AWWs and AWHs to play an active role in implementing the activities which he said, would help in sensitising the masses towards adoption of nutritional behaviour.
Earlier, the programme was chaired by district poshan coordinator assistant, Mezilung Nchang, poshan pledge was said by AWW Jalukie town, Ilungba and a special song by Samziuram AWWs and AWHs.
