‘Poshan Pakhwada’ celebration from today

As part of the “Poshan Abhiyaan”, Prime Minister of India, Narendra Modi’s overarching scheme for holistic development, Department of Social Welfare (DoSW) Kohima, Nagaland, office of the state project management unit under Ministry of Women and Child Development (MoWCD) government of India, would be celebrating the “5th Poshan Pakhwada” from March 20 to April 3 across the state.
A press release by the DoSW informed that the “Poshan Abhiyaan” endeavours to improve outcomes in pregnant women, lactating mothers, adolescent girls and children under the age of six years, in a holistic manner.
In pursuance of this objective, the department said “Poshan Pakhwada” would be celebrated in convergence with all stakeholders for which the department has prepared an action plan.
During the celebration, the department would be organising key activities under various themes; communities would be sensitized on the nutritional benefits of millets, in line with the United Nations General Assembly resolution declaring 2023 as the “International Year of Millets”, as proposed by India to the Food and Agriculture Organisation.
DoSW also informed that during the celebration, focus would also be on the growth monitoring through “Swasth Balak Spardha” that emphasises upon measuring height and weight of all the children in target age group and “Saksham Anganwadis”.
In this regard, the department has urged all convergent departments and people of the state to implement the action plan across all districts and blocks.
