A day long Postal Life Insurance Mela-cum-distribution of infrastructural equipments to branch post offices in Mon district was held on January 28 at main post office, Mon, with the participation of 80 employees.
Speaking at the function, Director Postal Services, Nagaland, Som Kamei said that the basic amenities for the branch post offices were supplied as part of modernization program and also for preparing towards a change in the postal department which is coming soon.
Kamei informed the gathering that India Post is standing at a crossroad where we not only have to grab the opportunities that come our way and to create opportunities for our continued growth. He said that portable PC will soon be provided to all the identified rural branch post offices as an extension of e-Post Office facility to rural areas and customers.
Skill upgradation and knowledge input would be imparted to the employees in a phased manner, he added. Branch postmasters and Gramin Dak Sevaks Staff were also informed to create awareness to the members of public in their respective village about the various schemes of the department.
The mela was organized by the SDI (P) Dimapur Sub-Division, E.Yanthan and his staff. The mela procured more than 40 lakhs worth of PLI/RPLI policies at Mon itself.
