A “poultry input distribution” programme for women Self Help Groups (SHGs) was organised by the Krishi Vigyan Kendra (KVK) Zunheboto, Nagaland University (NU) on May 3 at Sumi Settsu Village in Akuluto block, Zunheboto.
A press release by KVK Zunheboto stated that the programme was sponsored by the National Bank for Agriculture and Rural Development (NABARD) under the program, “Promoting sustainable livelihood and nutritional security of women SHGs through low-cost egg incubator and backyard poultry production.”
Speaking at the programme, principal scientist and head of KVK Zunheboto, NU, Dr. Rakesh Kumar Chaurasia, asked the farmers who attended the programme, to ensure that the program was implemented successfully so that other villages could emulate it.
Assistant General Manager, NABARD, Poji, highlighted the importance of the program for the women SHGs, and advised the farmers to put more efforts into proper management of birds for egg and chick production.
KVK said the programme was conducted with an objective to update and skill the farmers on raising birds, egg production and hatching of chicks through low-cost incubators. Altogether, 20 women from different SHGs attended the programme.
