As part of the nationwide “Smart Meter Pakhwada” campaign from February 9-23, 2026, the department of power has appealed to all the consumers to visit the information kiosks set up across various locations to seek clarification on any queries or doubts regarding smart meters.
In a press release, chief engineer (D&R) department of power informed that the campaign has been launched to enhance consumer awareness and build confidence in the installation of smart meters under the revamped distribution sector scheme (RDSS).
The campaign focuses on educating consumers about the benefits of smart meters while addressing common myths, doubts, and misconceptions surrounding the technology.
To achieve this, the department said it was undertaking a range of awareness activities, including display of posters and banners at prominent locations; distribution of informative leaflets; setting up dedicated information kiosks at sub-divisional offices and high footfall areas; conducting door-to-door outreach programmes in towns where smart metering work has already begun and assisting consumers in downloading the mobile application and demonstrating its usage
Additionally, the department has urged consumers who already have smart meters installed to download and register on the official “Smart Meters Nagaland” mobile application, available on the Google Play Store. It said that these steps aim to ensure greater transparency, ease of access to consumption data, and improved power distribution efficiency for the benefit of all consumers.
