Power dept appeals

The Department of Power has declared May and October as “Vegetation Clearance Months” to focus on clearing jungle growth along power corridors. This initiative aims to prevent prolonged power outages caused by trees and bamboo falling on transmission and distribution lines, significantly improving power supply stability.

In this regard, the department expressed appreciation of the District Planning and Development Board (DPDB) Mokokchung chairman and advisor for Water Resources, Tongpang Ozukum for their unanimous decision to support the initiative.

During the DPDB meeting on May 21, sub-divisional and circle administrative officials were instructed to organize consultative meetings with Village Council members and Power Department officials to strategize manpower mobilization. The department also urged other district DPDBs to adopt similar measures to ensure a stable power supply for all citizens in the state.
