Power deptt informs on blackout

Power department (Transmission Division, Dimapur) has informed all concerned that due to grid disturbance there has been power outage in four districts—Dimapur, Chümoukedima, Niuland and Peren. In a press note, Executive Engineer (EE) Transmission Division Dimapur, said that on September 15 around 6.30 p.m. a disturbance occurred in 132/66/33kV Nagarjan sub-station and both 132kV D/C main incomer got isolated from the interstate sub-station. It said that subsequent attempts were made by officers and staff of the department to restore power supply. However, the disturbance persisted and Nagarjan sub-station went blacked out at 7.05 p.m. which affected power supply to four districts.


On further investigation and diagnostic testing, the EE said a transformer relay maloperation was detected and isolated from circuit. However, Nagarjan sub-station was normalized and power supply restoration was initiated on September 15 at 11.08 p.m. and fully restored at 12.40 a.m. (September 16).


On September 16, EE said a follow up testing and rectification work was done where the 132/33kV 100MVA transformer was put under shutdown for two hours from 11 a.m. to 1.05 p.m.


In this regard, the department while acknowledging inconvenience caused to the consumers, conveyed that in spite of the constrains, the officers and staff were fully committed to render public service on priority.
