Power department, Dimapur held a meeting on Saturday, at DC conference hall to discuss features of the Integrated Power Development Scheme (IPDS) installation of “11 KV trunk lines with LT lines composite within Dimapur”.
Civil bodies, public leaders, colony leaders of Dimapur and administration, attended the meeting, and the department solicited their support and cooperation in implementation of their developmental works.
In his opening remark, chief engineer Er. Khose Sale spoke about the activities of the Power department in Dimapur where he said that the department had been trying to deliver the best of this essential service to the state. Pointing out that there has been a huge gap between the demand and supply that the service quality had suffered leading to complaints. “But the rate at which Dimapur is expanding and the rate at which the demand is increasing is very huge” he said.
He further appealed for the cooperation of the public such as making land available for installing new distribution transformers.
At the meeting, additional chief engineer Er Keviletuo Yise delivered a slide-show presentation about the IPDS scheme, under which system improvement of Dimapur town will include a project for improvement of the power distribution system. In pursuit of this, 33 KV, 11 KV lines, 33/11kv s/s, 11/0.4 KV DTS will be installed. Also, IT lines and replacement/changing of all rusted poles and old lines along main arterial roads and installation of 11 KV trunk line with LT lines composite will be undertaken. In the presentation, he pointed out where the 11 KV trunk lines will be set up saying that the poles will be GI galvanized iron poles, 14.5 metres high. These higher electrical poles will provide good clearance, a strong ground hold and will be constructed a few feet from the already installed poles to avoid objections and problems.
Er Keviletuo also highlighted the factors impeding development of the existing distribution infrastructure catering to the power supply needs of Dimapur.
Later, the meeting was followed by an interactive session were the attending consumers raised existing safety concerns citing instances of accidents in the past.
DMC administrator, Moa Sangtam, Naga Council Dimapur (NCD) and Deputy Commissioner (DC) Dimapur Sushil Kumar also assured the power department that they will extend their support and cooperation. The DC also suggested that the department counsel with GBs and council members, to which the department agreed.
It may be mentioned that the IPDS is a scheme for improving electricity transmission and distribution networks in urban areas. The scope of the work includes strengthening the electricity transmission/distribution networks, metering, incorporation of IT, Enterprise Resource Planning (ERP) and modernisation of urban electrical infrastructure.
