
Power department (electrical division, Kohima) has informed all consumers that the division would be carrying out disconnection drive of payment defaulters and illegal/unauthorized connections including government offices and villages/SPMs from January 2022.
Executive engineer Er. Rukongutuo Suohu has therefore urged all consumers under Kohima town and rural areas under the division to clear the bills at the earliest in order to avoid disconnection and inconvenience. It warned that all illegal/unauthorized tapping and use of electricity was an offence and would invite penalty in the form of fine/imprisonment or both as per Electricity Act, 2003.
It further requested consumers to read the information printed at the back of the electricity bill and to note that “non-receipt of bills is not a valid excuse for failure to make payment within due date. Duplicate bill may be obtained from local office on demand”.
In case of any discrepancies/grievances, consumers have been advised to visit the offices of their respective SDOs (E ) No. I, II, III for clarification, correction.
