PPC grateful for support during Longleng crisis

DIMAPUR: Phom Peoples’ Council (PPC) has expressed gratitude to neighbouring village councils, regional bodies, the Government of Nagaland and leaders for their support and solidarity during the ongoing crisis in Longleng district, where incessant rainfall has triggered severe mudslides and landslides, cutting off the region and blocking vital road connectivity.
PPC acknowledged the proactive initiative of Akhoya Village Council, Merangkong Village Council and Langpangkong Tzukong Mungdang (LTM) in clearing road blockades leading to Longleng, describing their efforts as a spirit of brotherhood and selfless support. The Council also thanked the Government of Nagaland, led by Chief Minister Neiphiu Rio, for prompt administrative action and continuous monitoring, and the Nagaland State Disaster Management Authority (NSDMA) for timely relief efforts.
Special gratitude was conveyed to Jaiswal and Sons for generous assistance in providing vital relief supplies, and to the Indian Air Force (IAF) for air operations that evacuated stranded people when surface connectivity was severed. The PPC also lauded the leadership of local representatives, particularly A. Pongshi Phom, MLA and advisor for Airways and Railways, for arranging airlifting of stranded students and patients, and personally providing travel fares. It further appreciated B. Bangtick Phom and A. Pongshi Phom for visiting landslide sites and assessing essential commodity stocks.
The Council said it was humbled by the unity and resilience shown across communities and government machinery, and appealed for continued cooperation until normal connectivity and normalcy are restored in Longleng district.
