Public Private Partnership (PPP) training for medical officers for both public and private health facilities on Malaria, JE and Dengue was held on March 15 at the Conference Hall, CMO office, Dimapur. The training was organized by NVBDCP in collaboration with NHM and the chief medical officer (CMO), Dimapur.
In the opening session, SPO NVBDCP, Dr. Neisakho highlighted the activities carried out by NVBDCP in the state. He shared that Nagaland has recorded a significant reduction in malaria cases since 2009, dropping from 8,489 cases in 2009 to just 5, 4, and 5 indigenous cases in 2022, 2023, and 2024, respectively.
He attributed this success to intensive anti-vector borne diseases control activities carried out including house-to-house awareness campaigns, source reduction, teacher and community leader training, school and village awareness programmes, private sector collaboration, and fogging in high-risk areas.
The first session of the training module covered the clinical management of JE, dengue, and clinical management of malaria, with MO District Hospital Dimapur, Dr. Manwen Konyak, and senior medical officer, Dr. Neilasakuo Linyu, serving as the resource persons.
In the second session, the approach to diagnosing vector-borne diseases and entomological surveillance were presented by CMO Dimapur, Dr. T. Temsu Longkumer, and assistant director UVBDS, Kikolul Khieya.
Earlier, the opening session was chaired by state consultant NVBDCP, Imsubenla, welcome address by SPO NVBDCP, Dr. Neisakho Kere.
