LAYS FOUNDATION STONES FOR 23 HOSTELS UNDER DAJGUA SCHEME
As part of the inauguration of Akhil Bharatiya Shiksha Samagam 2025 to commemorate five years of NEP 2020, the union minister of education Dharmendra Pradhan, on Tuesday virtually dedicated 10 PM SHRI Schools and laid foundation stones for 23 hostels in Nagaland. Hostels would be constructed under the Dharti Aaba Janjatiya Gram Utkarsh Abhiyan (DAJGUA), a flagship initiative aimed at transforming educational access for tribal students.
Selected from among 49 government schools in Nagaland, the 10 PM SHRI schools—one representing each district—were recognized as model schools for their implementation of NEP 2020 standards. The schools include PM SHRI GHSS Chumoukedima, PM SHRI GHSS Kiphire, PM SHRI GHS Kiruphema, PM SHRI Mayangnokcha GHSS, PM SHRI GMS Mon Town A, PM SHRI GHS DC Colony Peren Town, PM SHRI GHS Phusachodu, PM SHRI GHSS Thangjam, PM SHRI GHS, Wokha Village and PM SHRI GHS Nyengching.
These schools, part of the nation’s 14,500 school PM SHRI initiative, would serve as centres of excellence with enhanced infrastructure and curricula reflecting NEP’s focus on access, quality, equity, and inclusion.
The event, which was streamed live, was attended by students, teaching faculty, district administration officials, MLAs, community members, and parents from across Nagaland.
In alignment with India’s Azadi Ka Amrit Mahotsav, the DAJGUA—launched nationally on October 2, 2024—focuses on the holistic upliftment of tribal communities through coordinated delivery of services in education, infrastructure, healthcare, and livelihoods. DAJGUA is projected to benefit over 5 crore tribal individuals across 63,843 villages in 30 states, via 25 targeted interventions executed by 17 central ministries.
As part of the education intervention under this scheme, 1,000 new hostels are planned nationwide through the Samagra Shiksha framework under the Ministry of Education.
