Advent “Bhogali Bihu” festival which marks the end of the harvesting season in Assam was celebrated Sunday at Bokajan Higher Secondary School playground.
The festival showcased the rich cultural and tradition, including various traditional games and sports, folk dance and music etc. and partook by many communities.
Apart from the cultural activities and community games and sports, a tradition makeshift hut (Bhela Ghar), to be lighted in a traditional manner Monday morning, was also erected for display in the event campus along with other tradition equipments.
“The most important aspect of the programme was not just to mark the festive spirit but also to create a better social understanding which is of obvious importance in this multi cultural, multi lingual and multi ethnic society of ours”, said a senior citizen Ambeswar Chetia.
In a cultural night, many invited artist from Guwahati would enthral the audience with their enchanting notes and Bihu songs for rest of the evening. The programme would conclude with the lighting of traditional “Bhela Ghar”.
