Pre-fire season workshop in Wokha

Department of Forest on May 1 organized a one-day workshop on pre-fire season awareness among line departments, village, colony councils and NGOs at Forest colony community hall, Wokha. 
The workshop was graced by Deputy Commissioner, Dr. Manazir Jeelani Samoon, DIPR reported. 
In his address, DC highlighted on the structure of disaster management authority and stressed on the importance of availability of resources and instruments to be used during disaster. 
He also stressed on lack of fire safety norms while constructing buildings, and urged to obtain permission from the responsible authority by following follow basic norms so that in the event of any fire incident, the inferno was contained from spreading to nearby buildings.
Commenting on the importance of conserving Mt.Tiyi Forest, he said community participation was important for success of any project and appealed to the villagers, colonies to come forward and regulate laws and legislations for preserving natural resources.

Key note address was delivered by DFO, Wokha Zuthunglo Patton, and role of Forest Fire-Impact and responsibilities was presented by B.O Changpang. 
Short speeches were also delivered by secretary Lotha Hoho, president Lotha Students Union and representatives from Village and colony council.
