President Murmu Visits Army Training Command in Shimla

President and Supreme Commander of the Armed Forces Droupadi Murmu visited the Headquarters of Army Training Command (ARTRAC) in Shimla on Friday, praising its role in enhancing the operational preparedness of the Indian Army. She was received by Himachal Pradesh Governor Kavinder Gupta and Lieutenant General Devendra Sharma, GOC‑in‑C ARTRAC, who briefed her on the command’s evolution, training initiatives, and adoption of new technologies.

ARTRAC has introduced drone training, digitisation, automation, and the concept of “Red Teaming” to strengthen operational efficiency. The President acknowledged its comprehensive role in designing warfare concepts, resource development, and international military engagements. She urged ARTRAC to continue working with zeal to foster innovation and shape future‑ready leaders, complimenting all ranks and defence civilians for their contributions.

The visit marked the conclusion of President Murmu’s five‑day summer stay at her official residence in Mashobra. Earlier in the week, she attended a banquet hosted by the Himachal Pradesh Governor. The Rashtrapati Niwas at Mashobra, opened to the public in 2023, now offers a free bus service from Shimla to celebrate her two years in office.
