President Droupadi Murmu on Sunday nominated former Foreign Secretary Harsh Vardhan Shringla, Special Public Prosecutor in the 26/11 Mumbai terror attacks case Ujjwal Nikam, Kerala BJP leader C. Sadanandan Master and Delhi-based historian Meenakshi Jain to the Rajya Sabha.
The announcement, published in an official Gazette notification dated July 12, 2025, said the nominations have been made to fill vacancies created by the retirement of earlier nominated members.
Prime Minister Narendra Modi welcomed the nominations posting individual messages for the four nominees.
