President of USA Inc.

Donald Trump’s presidency remains one of the most contentious chapters in American history, marked by grand proclamations and minimal follow-through and lowering the image of his country. The most recent has been his off and on warning to Iran. His inconsistency is glaring. One day, he vows to defend Israel and threatens Iran with military force; the next, he delays decision-making on whether to engage in the Iran-Israel conflict. This lack of clarity undermines U.S. credibility and demonstrates troubling incompetence in foreign policy leadership. On the Ukraine war, he asserted that, due to his rapport with Russian President Vladimir Putin, he would conclude the war in Ukraine within his first day in office, with some claims suggesting it could be resolved in just 24 hours. Yet, more than 150 days into his second term, the conflict continues unabated. Recently, Trump described his initial statements about the war as “exaggeration” and claimed they were made “in jest.”In a similar spirit, Trump vowed to resolve the Gaza conflict before taking office. While a ceasefire deal was brokered on January 15, it quickly fell apart by March 18 as Israel launched renewed attacks on Gaza. Immigration has long been a focal point in Trump’s political discourse, and he promised to seal the border with Mexico to curb illegal immigration. Notably, illegal crossings have plummeted from 211,896 in March 2022 to merely 8,193 in March 2025-a striking 96% decrease. He has provided no clear strategies for implementation or financing. While his deportation records lag behind those of the Obama and Biden administrations. Trump’s aggressive tariff policies were touted as a means to revive American manufacturing, framing the U.S. as a victim of unfair trade practices. However, the efficacy of these measures remains in question. Initially, inflation dropped from 3% to 2.4% during his first 100 days, but the consequent rise in grocery prices, largely attributed to tariffs on imports, has left economists apprehensive. Trump established the Department of Government Efficiency (DOGE), led by billionaire Elon Musk in hopes of achieving $2 trillion in savings. The plan flopped and eventually his friend Musk left and today has become another foe.In February, Trump signed an executive order banning transgenders from competing in women’s sports, marking the fourth such directive since his inauguration. He fulfilled on some pledges, including pardoning supporters convicted for their roles in the January 6 insurrection and dismantling diversity, equity, and inclusion (DEI) initiatives across government agencies. Isolationism has characterized Trump’s foreign policy, alienating neighboring nations like Mexico, Canada, Argentina, and Brazil due to his tariff agenda. Moreover, he has fostered discord among traditional NATO allies, which has raised concerns about Western unity. While praising Putin, he has uncharitably addressed Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy, creating further diplomatic disarray. At the G7 summit in Canada, Trump faced a notable snub, leading him to depart prematurely, highlighting his strained relationships with global counterparts. In summary, Trump’s presidency showcases the complexities of a leader whose self-centered approach has contributed to his political isolation and strained relations at home and abroad. He projects a persona of a successful businessman, although he has struggled to translate that image into effective political leadership, with a team that might actually end up exacerbating his shortcomings rather than mitigate them.
