President of India Droupadi Murmu will flag off the first passenger train service between Nagaland and Meghalaya on October 14.
According to Northeast Frontier Railway (NFR) chief public relations officer (CPRO) Sabyasachi De, the existing Guwahati-Lumding-Guwahati Express train had now been extended up to Shokhuvi in Nagaland in one end and up to Mendipathar in Meghalaya on the other.
The President would flag off the inaugural run of this train, which would connect people of three North Eastern states of Assam, Meghalaya and Nagaland.
The Mendipathar-Guwahati passenger special would depart from Mendipathar with a new train number (05607) on every Tuesday and Thursday at 12:30 pm and reach Guwahati at 4:40 pm on the same day. The train would then depart from Guwahati at 5 pm on the same day with a new train number (05605) to reach Shokhuvi at 11:55 pm.
In return direction, the Shokhuvi-Guwahati passenger special would leave Shokhuvi with a new train number (05606) on every Wednesday and Friday at 5:30 am and reach Guwahati at 11:10 am. The train would depart from Guwahati at 12:45 pm on every Wednesday and Monday with a new train number (05608) and reach Mendipathar at 4:50 pm on the same day.
Existing train no. 05601 (Guwahati-Lumding) Passenger Special would depart from Guwahati at 5 pm on every Friday, Saturday and Sunday to reach Lumding at 9:40 pm. In return direction, train no. 05602 (Lumding-Guwahati) Passenger Special would depart from Lumding at 7 am on every Saturday, Sunday and Monday to reach Guwahati at 11:10 am.
The details of stoppages and timings of these trains are available at IRCTC website and through NTES and are also being notified in various newspapers and social media platforms of NFR.
The CPRO requested all passengers to verify the details before undertaking their journey.
