Congress MP Priyanka Gandhi Vadra on Tuesday accused the Centre of failing students, weakening the education system and using excessive force against protesters during the Lok Sabha debate on the Public Examinations (Prevention of Unfair Means) Amendment Bill, 2026.
Taking a swipe at Prime Minister Narendra Modi, she said, “If you want to win back the confidence of Gen Z, making videos with different camera angles will not work. The prime minister needs to change the angle of his heart, not the angle of cameras.”
Questioning the police response, she asked why tear gas, lathi-charge, water cannons, pellet guns and AK-47s were used against students and demanded that Prime Minister and Home Minister Amit Shah explain who ordered the use of pellet guns. She said students had only sought reforms, action against paper leaks and the “paper leak mafia”, accountability and an apology for alleged police excesses.
Meanwhile, NCP (SP) MP Supriya Sule sought a Joint Parliamentary Committee probe into paper leaks and alleged police brutality against protesters.
