He said that for normalcy to return in the state, he said, there was a lot of work to be done.
“The process of peace, the process of trust building, the process of engaging each other, I think there is lots of work to be done. That is the reason why leadership will play a vital role,” he said.
The Meghalaya chief minister added that political parties, CSOs and different stakeholders should also take important roles in this regard.
He said that several efforts were made to resolve the crisis. While some progress has been achieved, challenges remain. He also pointed out that more engagement was needed to ensure complete peace, adding that his party (NPP) was intended to play a role in stabilizing Manipur.
When asked about expanding the NPP’s presence in the state, he said, “Our priority is restoring peace and normalcy. Elections are far off, serving the people comes first.”
Sangma said that his visit was intended to meet local leaders, community representatives, and stakeholders to assess the ground situation and promote normalcy in the state.
