The fully funded fellowship, offered under the Indo–US Fulbright–Nehru initiative by the United States–India Educational Foundation, is designed for senior education administrators including vice-chancellors, pro-vice chancellors, deans and academic leaders. The programme aims to strengthen leadership in higher education, promote international academic partnerships and support institutional development through direct exposure to global practices.
Beginning at the University of Notre Dame, Indiana, the programme provided participants with a comprehensive understanding of the U.S. higher education system. It included visits and academic interactions at Purdue University, Temple University, University of Pennsylvania, Drexel University, University of Delaware, Johns Hopkins University and American University. These engagements highlighted the scale and diversity of the U.S. academic landscape.
Discussions focused on internationalisation, research and innovation systems, digital and AI-enabled learning, community engagement and university–industry collaboration. A significant component was the visit to the United States Department of Energy in Washington, D.C., where participants were introduced to the role of federal agencies in supporting research and academic partnerships.
As part of the fellowship, each administrator developed a capstone project to strengthen their home institution. Prof. Sinha’s project focused on enhancing international collaboration and advancing institutional development initiatives at Nagaland University.
The programme concluded with final presentations and an official engagement at the Embassy of India in Washington, D.C. Prof. Sinha’s participation is expected to contribute meaningfully to the academic growth, international engagement and institutional strengthening of Nagaland University.
