A programme on Computerised Primary Agriculture Credit Cooperative Societies Ltd. was organised by the office of the Assistant Registrar of Cooperative Societies, Mon, on October 10 at the DRDA Conference Hall, Mon.
Commissioner and Secretary, IPR and Cooperation Department, Orenthung Lotha, addressed the gathering and thanked members of the Primary Agriculture Credit Cooperative Societies for their participation. He highlighted the UN declaration of the International Year of Cooperatives 2025, stating its objectives to raise awareness on cooperative contributions to sustainable development, strengthen cooperative ecosystems, advocate for supportive legal frameworks, and inspire youth leadership in the cooperative movement.
Noting that Mon is the most populated district in Nagaland, Lotha encouraged societies in the district to lead by example. He also elaborated on the benefits of computerisation, including improved efficiency, transparency, expanded services, financial inclusion, faster loan delivery, and digital rural banking.
Joint Registrar of Cooperative Societies, Kohima, Vikosielie Nagi, delivered the keynote address and expressed appreciation to Orenthung Lotha for his grassroots initiative. He urged societies to embrace technology and work diligently to upgrade their operations.
Chief Manager of Cooperative Bank Mon, W. Chemkai Konyak, emphasized that cooperative banks rely on cooperative societies, which are their true owners. He encouraged members to build confidence, remain committed, and ensure timely loan repayment.
Sub-Registrar of Cooperative Societies, Mon, Tsijungse Sangtam, briefed on the development and functioning of the societies.
The programme was chaired by the Assistant Registrar of Cooperative Societies, Mon. Out of 350 Primary Agriculture Credit Cooperative Societies in the district, nine were selected and trained for computerisation.
