Naga United Village Baptist Church (NUVBC) and CNUV Zuvekro in collaboration with the Christian Institute of Health Sciences and Research organized a one-day elderly health care program at NUVBC Old building, Chumoukedima on June 8.
Speaking at the event, director CIHSR Dr. Sedevi Angami, stressed the significance of caring for the elderly in society. He emphasized on regular health screenings from the age of 45 and highlighted the importance of early detection and correction of physical illnesses, enabling individuals to enjoy different stages of life to the fullest.
He classified the elders into three groups based on their health status and provided valuable insights for tailored interventions, and suggested of forming a care team through the Village Council or Churches demonstrated a proactive approach to elderly care.
A health appraisal was also carried out led by Rokotsino Meyase, Bilashini, Rokosetuo, and Azhosa, and was overseen by Dr. Sedevi Angami, who ensured thorough screenings and a final review, with further recommendations for follow-up check-ups by the medical team for 82 elderly people and others with physical complaints.
Earlier, the programme began with an invocation by pastor, NUVBC Kuhüsheyi Chotso, VCC’s Reyopoyi Nyekha welcomed the gatherings and benediction by Cekhüthiyi Vise. Meanwhile, the organizers expressed gratitude to Dr. Sedevi Angami and his team for their unwavering commitment and extending a helping hand to the village.
