Programmes, activities for students, faculty

As part of its academic and extracurricular activities, educational institutions have been organising various programmes and activities for the students and teaching faculty.


SJC Dimapur: An open workshop on “Accelerating Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) through methodology and research” for faculty and students was organised by the by Research Cell, St. John College (SJC), in collaboration with Research and Information System (RIS) for Developing Countries, New Delhi, and North Eastern Training Research and Advocacy (NETRA) Foundation on March 27.


During the workshop, key resource person, associate professor, department of chemistry and chief vigilance officer, National Institute of Technology (NIT) Nagaland, Dr. Amrit Puzari, deliberated on “accelerating SDGs through methodology and research”.


Dr. Puzari emphasised the escalating pollution levels worldwide and proposed necessary measures to transition towards a sustainable society. He also elaborated on adapting and formulating research methodologies conducive to sustainable outcomes.


Associate professor, department of political science, St. Joseph University, Dr. Moameren, provided a comprehensive guide on preparing and submitting project proposals based on his practical and professional experience.


Earlier, SJC principal and research cell advisor, Dr. Chubatila, highlighted India’s G20 presidency and the ongoing efforts to engage youth in sustainable development, referencing the G20 University Connect events nationwide. She emphasised the workshop’s aim to fulfill a requirement of the G20 University Connect initiative and urged participants to approach the discussions with openness and commitment. A total of 54 faculty and students attended the programme.


NU Lumani: Students from Nagaland University (NU) showcased their exceptional talents at the 37th Inter University National Youth Festival “Hulara” held at Punjab Agricultural University, Ludhiana, from March 28 to April 1.


NU said a total of 18 participants led by Dr. Rishikesh Fauzdar from the department of law and Dr. Gyati Yam from the department of forestry represented the university. The NU team secured second positions in folk dance and western group song and fourth position in the cultural procession.


MC Piphema: The first Evangelistic Camp under the theme “Where are you?” (Genesis 3:9) organised by Modern College Evangelical Union at the Indoor Stadium, MC Piphema culminated on March 31.


The college said that topics covered at the camp included “The doctrine of sin and redemption”, “Self-acceptance”, “The doctrine of the Holy Spirit”, “Biblical understanding of sexual purity”, “The doctrine of the second coming”, “Balancing studies and ministry”. It said the objective of the camp was to evangelise the students and bring them closer to God. Altogether, 62 campers attended the four-day camp.
