Programmes, activities organised for students, faculties

Various programmes and activities were organised for the students and faculties by the educational institutions as part of their academic and extracurricular activities.
NU: The “Yuva Manthan Model” United Nations (UN) programme, themed “Lifestyle for Environment” concluded on April 30 at Nagaland University’s Lumami headquarters.
NU said the event organised under the auspices of Viksit Bharat@2047, ministry of education, government of India, witnessed enthusiastic participation from Nagaland University students representing various nations.


Delivering the keynote address as the chief guest, NU vice-chancellor, Professor Jagadish Kumar Patnaik, emphasised the significance of youth engagement in environmental stewardship.
One of the highlights of the programme was the model parliament competition, featuring student representatives from 24 countries.
The jury led by Professor John H Sema, evaluated the participants’ performances, ultimately awarding the first prize to Liberia and the second prize to India.


DGC: Dimapur Government College held its 58th parting social on April 30 at the college auditorium under the theme, “Scribbling New Paths” with the Deputy Commissioner (DC) Dimapur, Dr. Tinojongshi Changas the special guest and DGC principal, Prof. Sanjay Sharma as the guest of honour.
In his speech, DC Dimapur shared his own experiences and struggles, motivating the gathered youngsters never to give up on their dreams despite setbacks. He encouraged the students to give their very best as they ready themselves to venture out into the world. The principal thanked the graduating students for their contributions towards the betterment of the college and for being good role models to the juniors.


He specifically mentioned the drinking water facility, a major contribution of the graduating batch.
MGM College: Nagaland University (NU) team on April 30 visited the MGM College Dimapur for renewal of affiliation. The team comprised of the convenor, Professor A.K. Mishra (department of Commerce), Professor Y. Ben Lotha (department of History and Archaeology) and Professor M.A.J Khan (department of English).


Speaking at the welcome programme, Professor Mishra emphasised on the basic foundations of learning and education in order to tackle any challenges in life. He encouraged the students to make learning their mission, achieve and contribute as such. A confabulation session was held between the inspection team, NU and the facilitators’ (MGM College) Further the team had physical verification of the infrastructure, interacted with faculty members and with the founding society members.
OC: Oriental College Kohima held its 27th annual parting social on April 30 for the outgoing students with Nagaland University, Meriema Campus, pro-vice chancellor, Professor Glenn Thong as the special guest. In his address, Professor Thong enlightened the students about his own life and experience, and encouraged them to be strong.


KLC: The 45th parting social of Kohima Law College (KLC) was held on April 30 at Red Cross Conference Hall, Kohima with administrator KLC, Limaakum Jamir as guest speaker. During the programme, the college annual magazine was released by KLC principal, Soni Magh.
FAC: Fazl Ali College organised a farewell programme for its retiring officer, head of department, department of economics, Dr. Imcharenla, on April 30.
In his speech, FAC principal, Dr. I. Wati Imchen congratulated the retiring officer for reaching a successful milestone in good health and expressed gratitude for her works and contributions towards the college.


In her farewell speech, Dr. Imcharenla reflected fondly on her time in FAC which covered the span of 31 years and one month. She advised her peers and students to give their best to the growth of the institution.
KC: Kohima College organised a farewell ceremony on April 30 at the college’s Conference Hall for its faculty member, Megovono Usou, who is retiring after 35 years of service.
In her retiring speech, Usou expressed gratitude for the love and kindness shown to her throughout her tenure.
She thanked her colleagues, students, and the college administration for their unwavering support and camaraderie.
