Programmes, activities organised for students & faculty

As part of academic and extracurricular activities, educational institutions and other organisations and departments conducted various programmes for the students, teaching and non-teaching staff.


NHSS: One day in-service teacher training program in relation to effective classroom teaching using the constructivist approach was organised by Northfield Higher Secondary School (NHSS) in collaboration with Modern Institute of Teacher Education, Kohima on July 31. The resource persons from the MITE gave training on Constructivism and 5E Learning Plan.


SXHSS: Deputy Commissioner (DC) Shamator, Chingyak Konyak inaugurated the computer laboratory of St Xavier Higher Secondary School, Shamator on July 31. In his speech, the DC lauded the efforts of the Catholic school in its education ministry and encouraged the students to make full and best use of opportunities. He also encouraged students to use computers and digital technologies for their benefits and learning while cautioning them of the dangers of the abuse of internet and digital technologies.


NU: Nagaland University, headquarters Lumami with its all four campuses organised programme, “Akhil Bhartiya Shiksha Samagam” on live webcast of 3rd Anniversary of National Education Policy (NEP) 2020 on July 29, which was addressed by Prime Minister of India. As the representative of NU, vice-chancellor Professor Jagadish Kumar Patnaik attended the event in New Delhi.


SJC (A): St. Joseph’s College (A), Jakhama celebrated its “36th Freshers’ Day” on July 29 at the at the College Indoor Stadium with TaFMA chairman, Theja Meru as the guest speaker. In his speech, Meru encouraged the students to dream big and drew life examples on how one should dream big to achieve big things in life.


NEISSR: North East Institute of Social Sciences and Research (NEISSR) organised parent-teacher association meeting on July 29. In a welcome address, NEISSR principal, Dr. Fr. C.P. Anto encouraged parents to share suggestions for improvement of the institute and students towards achieving the goal of fostering better individuals in society. On behalf of parents and guardians, Myanthung Ngullie stressed on the importance of communication between the college, students, and parents.


SCHE: Salesian College of Higher Education (SCHE) Dimapur celebrated its annual freshers meet on July 29 at Bernick Hall with the theme, “Beginning of a New Journey to Learning”. At the programme, guest speaker, director of the college, Rev. V. A. Thomas exhorted the new students to be focused and receptive as there would be many hurdles and challenges to overcome, opportunities to explore and many successes to be seen in future.


MCCK: Model Christian College, Kohima (MCCK) organised its annual “Parents/Guardians Forum [PGF] and Teachers meet” July 29 at the College Auditorium. During the meeting, the Managing Director of the college, S.P. Francis, exhorted the parents and teachers to work together in making responsible citizens. MCCK principal, Dr. Luke Rymbai highlighted the new academic curriculum and stressed on the importance of the new education system.


WSK: Whito School Kohima (WSK) celebrated its cultural cum Parents’ Day under the theme, “Celebrating Family and Culture: Connecting Generations Through Tradition,” on July 29 at the school’s Grace Hall.


SJU: St Joseph University (SJU) Chumoukedima held its annual staff award ceremony on July 29 at the University Auditorium to recognize and honour the outstanding achievements of its distinguished staff members. Altogether 250 awards were conferred on staff members as recognition and appreciation. The programme was attended by 200 members of the teaching and non-teaching staff.
