Programmes and activities organised for students & faculties

As part of academic and extracurricular activities, various programmes and activities were organised by educational institutions and other organisations for the student community and faculties.


Programmes were also organised to felicitate the successful candidates for the High School Leaving Certificate (HLSC) and Higher Secondary School Leaving Certificate (HSSLC) 2024 examinations.


SC Phezhu: A two-day MA history departmental seminar on “Naga Society: Issues, Challenges, and Prospects” was organised by the PG history department of Sazolie College, Phezhu, Jotsoma on May 23-24 at the college.


In his address, guest of honour, Sazolie College, principal, Dr. Gopal Chettri, talked about the methodology of academic research and encouraged the students to take up research work.


In a keynote address, HoD, MA department of history, Robin Temsu, presented a comprehensive overview of Naga society’s issues, challenges, and prospects, emphasising the need for a multidisciplinary approach to address the complexities of Naga society.

Altogether, 27 students from the MA 4th Semester, department of history presented papers on various topics such as “Naga Customary Law vis-à-vis Modern Legal Law”, “Multiple Taxation and Naga Society” and “Women’s Reservation in Nagaland”. The paper presentations were followed by discussions and debates, with participants engaging actively with the ideas and insights presented. Faculties and students of the college also deliberated on the issues, challenges, and prospects of Naga society.


CHSS Meluri: Christian Higher Secondary School (CHSS) Meluri celebrated its golden jubilee on May 24 with advisor, new and renewal energy and Nagaland State Disaster Management Authority (NSDMA), Z. Nyusietho Nyuthe, as the special guest.


In his speech, Nyuthe said the school has exhibited dedication, perseverance, and a steadfast commitment to its values. He said the founding members laid the foundation with a vision rooted in faith, education, and community, understanding that an education grounded in spiritual values was essential to shaping the character of young men and women.


Earlier, the jubilee monolith was dedicated by PBCC executive secretary, Rev. Rümatho Nyusou, Executive Secretary, PBCC and unveiled by the special guest. Around 2,000 people attended the programme.


IH&SEC: An annual “Summer Hobby Camp” under the theme, Explore the possibilities- Reuse & Reduce” was organised by the Innovation Hub and Space Education Centre (IH&SC) Nagaland Science Centre, department of Science and Technology, on May 24 at Innovation Hub, Dimapur.
During the event, participants were made to develop useful products using waste plastic bottles, waste cardboard cartons, newspapers, waste carry bags etc.


IH&SC said the primary objectives of the camp were to exercise critical thinking and practical problem-solving skills, to tap the creativity of young children, to promote and encourage local innovation and all the while finding effective yet casual ways to maximize re-usage and reduction of common non-biodegradable waste such as “PET water bottles”.


Students from Government Higher Secondary School (GHSS) Purana Bazaar, Great Commission Higher Secondary School, St. Clare Higher Secondary School, Little Star Higher Secondary School, Shemrock School Diphupar, CGR International School Hyderabad, New Horizon School, Hebron Higher Secondary School Sovima, Lorna’s Higher Secondary School, Xuvihe Memorial School, Zakiesato Memorial Higher Secondary School, Rincho Academy and Greenwood Higher Secondary School, participated in the camp.


LFI: A one-day consultative meeting on “Balvatika and Jadui Pitara” was conducted for Central Board of Secondary Education (CBSE) schools across Nagaland on May 24 at Livingstone Foundation International (LFI).


The consultative meeting was part of CBSE’s initiative to create awareness of various facets of the National Curriculum Framework’s Foundational Stage (NCF-FS), which is one of the most important elements as enshrined under the New Education Policy (NEP) for the foundational stage (3-6 years of age.


The meeting was conducted in a hybrid mode where 54 participants from more than 20 CBSE affiliated schools from Nagaland attended both the offline and online mode.
The offline meeting held at the LFI auditorium was led by Delhi Public School, Dimapur, principal, Anurodh Chitra, while the online mode, which was conducted simultaneously, was led by resource persons from both National Council of Educational Research and Training (NCERT) and CBSE.


The meeting mainly focused on some key aspects of the foundational stage, demonstrations on online access and utilisation of resources through Jadui Pitara and e-Jadui Pitara, and also a better perspective on the Balvatika and the CBSE affiliation bye-laws.


During an interaction, All India Private Schools’ Alliance (AIPSA), director, Shiju Augustine, shared the collaborative efforts of all schools through Nagaland Schools’ Alliance (NSA) in enhancing a host of facilities and privileges for the staff and management of schools as a whole.


MSUK: Mao Students’ Union Kohima (MSUK) in collaboration with the Ashikho Daili Trust Award for Academic Excellence (ADTAEE) organised the “annual freshers’ day cum felicitation programme” on May 25 at Model Higher Secondary School, Kohima.


The programme was graced by Naga Students’ Federation (NSF) president, Medovi Rhi, and assistant professor, department of Psychology, Nagaland University, Dr. Lovika P. Shikhu, as special guest and guest speaker respectively.


During the programme, the ADTAAE was handed over to Pikuni Pauline (HSLC Rank 10), 18th recipient of the award since its inception in 2005, by ADTAAE patron, Ashikho Daili.


SCC Tuensang: Sao Chang College (SCC) Tuensang released its 3rd edition journal on May 24. The college said the primary aim of the journal was to offer a collaborative platform where academicians could share multidisciplinary insights.
