As part of academic and extracurricular activities, various programmes and activities were organised by educational institutions and other organisations for the student community and faculties.
Programmes were also organised to felicitate the successful candidates for the High School Leaving Certificate (HLSC) and Higher Secondary School Leaving Certificate (HSSLC) 2024 examinations.
NI Jamir Award: Sixteen students from the Ao community, who emerged as toppers in the High School Leaving Certificate (HSLC) Nagaland Board of School Education (NBSE) 2024 examinations, were awarded with the “18th N. I. Jamir Academic Excellence Award” on May 25 at Capital Convention Centre Kohima.
The toppers who were felicitated are, Moamenla B. Kichu (Top 9), Benjungakum Jamir (Top 9), Chendila Walling (Top 10), Suyaben Longkumer (Top 10), Tajungren Imsong (Top 12), Moaakum T. Longkumer (12), Aiensen Aier (Top 13) Imlibong Jamir (Top 14), Nukshirenla Kichu (Top 14), Tiarenla Longkumer (Top 14), Tianla (Top 14), Imkongsungit Jamir (Top 17), Liropong Ao (Top 17), Imkongsenla Longkumer (Top 17), Imjunglila Jamir (Top 19) and Temsujungba (Top 20).
Speaking on the occasion as the special guest, advisor, fisheries and aquatic resources, A Panjung Jamir, lauded the board of governors of NI Jamir Award for encouraging students from the Ao community to strive for excellence.
Describing N.I. Jamir as a modest man with incredible intelligence and a strong vision for the Ao community, Panjung said he was a “trailblazer” of the educational system in the Ao community.
Congratulating the students on their success, the advisor said achieving excellence demands many sacrifices, and that it was only due to their sheer hard work and unwavering dedication that the students were able to top their examinations. He then advised the students to continue working hard toward their goals while being fearful of God.
Stating that in the present digital era it is easy for young people to be easily distracted by the latest technology, devices and gadgets, he advised students to utilise internet facilities only to benefit in their studies and avoid social media platforms. The programme began with an invocation by Alice Walling while a special prayer for the students was said by O Sashi Ozukum. (Correspondent)
MHHSS Kohima: Ministers’ Hill Baptist Higher Secondary School (MHHSS) Kohima, in collaboration with the youth department of Ministers’ Hill Baptist Church (MHBC) organised a musical evening, in aid of the construction of the new school building, on May 25 under the theme, “Echoes of Kindness”.
Speaking at the programme as special guest, minister, women resource development and horticulture, Salhoutuonuo Kruse, exhorted the students and told them to focus on their studies and achieve their aims in life.
A host of artists from the school, church and alumni presented various songs. The star attraction of the programme was Moko Koza, an alumnus of the school. Other performers included Neikhrieo Üsou, Keduokhrietuo Üsou, Symphony Academy of Music, New Dawn band and Nagaland College of Music and Fine Arts.
The programme concluded with a vote of thanks by the school principal, Jongshijiba Ozukum and benediction by the school chaplain, Rongsenzenla Aier. PGC: As Phek Government College (PGC) prepares for its second National Assessment and Accreditation Council (NAAC) cycle of accreditation, the community of Phek Town led by Phek Town Youth Society and Phek Town Chakhesang Student’s Union joined hands and assisted the institution in organising mass social works on May 25 at the college campus. Similarly, various other social works were also conducted by the parent-teacher association and alumni association of the college as part of community extension services.
Assam Rifles: Assam Rifles organised “A Day with the Company Commander” for the students of Kekhugwo Government Middle School on May 25.
Assam Rifles said the event instilled a spirit of patriotism and motivated students in harnessing their energy towards a positive mind and developing team spirit through various sports activities.
A total of 23 students and three teachers participated in the event and spent the day with the troops of Assam Rifles.
