Citizens of Langmeing village staged a protest rally against the alleged sexual assault on a 15-year-old minor girl near Aboi town on June 20.
The protesters demanded strong action against the six culprits, claiming that all the accused were adults and should not be booked under Juvenile Justice Act.
Protesters were seen holding placards/banners that read: “If biased justice is delivered, we will take law in our own hands”, “No duplication of culprit age” etc. Addl SP and PRO Mon police on Wednesday said that the six accused had sexually assaulted the minor at a place located above Tapi bridge under Mon district.
All the accused have been booked under various sections of the IPC including section 4/8 POCSO Act and investigation was under progress.
