PSAN urges state govt to constitute SSB

Public Service Aspirants of Nagaland (PSAN) has reiterated its appeal to the state government to constitute Staff Selection Board (SSB) at the earliest.

PSAN through its media cell stated that with thousands of aspirants applying for clerical jobs in various departments, it has become an urgent necessity to set up SSB.

Alleging that departmental exams were “never free from suspicion of unfair practices”, PSAN therefore suggested that SSB should be constituted for recruitment to all the Grade III posts that did not come under the purview of NPSC. It said that setting up of SSB would pave the way for a free, fair and open recruitment and promote the spirit of meritocracy among the youth of Nagaland. Stating that setting up of SSB has been its long standing demand, the PSAN said it was also one of the much-awaited changes that the youth of Nagaland longed for.

PSAN also reminded that since 2016 it had submitted numerous representations to the government on the urgent need for SSB, but to no avail. It lamented that successive governments have promised to look into the matter, but there seemed to be “a general lack of political will to make SSB a reality.”

PSAN has reminded the lawmakers that their primary responsibility was to formulate policies for the growth and development of the citizens and not to “hand out backdoor appointment orders.” Describing unemployment as one of the biggest problems in Nagaland, the aspirants said unemployment was further aggravated by the practice of backdoor appointment. “It has become a cancer in our society which can only be cured with SSB,” it remarked.
