Public Service Aspirants of Nagaland (PSAN) has welcomed the decision of the new team of Naga Students’ Federation (NSF) led by its president, Ninoto Awomi to look into state government’s recruitment policies.
In a press statement, PSAN media cell, lauded NSF’s “bold decision” to take up the issue of backdoor appointment and Staff Selection Board (SSB) with the state government.
PSAN pointed out that it first submitted representation to Governor on December 16, 2016 demanding for SSB in line with Central Staff Selection Commission (SSC). It said another representation was submitted to the then Chief Minister (CM), Dr Shurhozelie Liezietsu on June 27, 2017 and the then CM, T.R Zeliang on November 17, 2017.
PSAN said a representation was submitted to the incumbent CM, Neiphiu Rio on June 25, 2018, in response to which the latter wrote to the Department of Personnel and Administrative Reforms on July 19, 2018 directing it to “examine the demand seriously”.
However, PSAN said even after a year it was yet to receive any positive response from the government. It hoped that the concern authority would prioritise the matter.
Lamenting that the issue had remained neglected, PSAN expressed optimism that NSF’s decision to tackle the issues would be a “timely Medicare”. PSAN had also extended all possible help towards the federation.
