PSC general session concludes

The four-day 62nd Phom Laivangh Pangthai (Phom Students’ Conference) general session came to a close on January 17 at Orangkong village which was hosted by the Orangkong Students’ Union.
The general session which was commenced on January 13 on the theme ‘Denngoihenshing’ (Pursuing wholeness) witnessed one of the largest gathering in the history of Phom Students’ Conference since its inception during the fifties by few leaders of the district when the state was in worst situation, braving an unattractive days and nights of their lives.
Speaking on the theme, Mrs Henwo Phom, vice Principal of Government Higher Secondary School, Mon, emphasized on the future education and its impact if the present younger generation lack common vision.
‘The educational institutions which moulds one’s life is your vital place and must confine though the taste may be bitter,’ she said. However, she said the bitterness of lengthy years would bear the fruits of sweetness throughout the rest of one’s life. Henow also mentioned that it is never late or early if one opts for a quality education. Henow also lamented on the present young students who do not want to spend even an hour in class room which she said is a great concern for the future of their life.
She also regretted gender inequality saying that we Nagas need to rethink on the status of gender equality where women also can undertake any tasks what male could do. She said women plays great role in every field all over the world braving the risk of their lives for the sake of humanity where male population has a difficulty due to absence of peace and unity. She encouraged both the genders to be sincere in acquiring quality education so that it would benefit not only the individual but also the society.  
The four day general session also coincided with competition in various fields which was considered beneficial for the Phom community and other tribe representatives who joined the session. The main events of the session were the volleyball where 44 team both male and females of every village took part. Six referees of the State and National players spare their service throughout the session in judging the players. Several state and out of state volleyball coaches also present with their respective teams.
In the last service, the new selected students’ office bearers were administered oath followed by combined prayer of new student’s leaders and outgoing office bearers.
