PSC to resume stir from Feb 2

Phom Students’ Conference (PSC) has decided to go ahead with the agitation from February 2, since Nagaland Public Works Department (Road & Bridges) failed to respond to its 15-day ultimatum which expired January 30.
In the ultimatum, PSC had demanded commencement of construction works on Longleng-Ladigarh NEC (group ‘c’) road by following all necessary norms/procedures. In a press release, PSU president, Hongkam D. Ngonyen and general secretary, Y. Lungchem Phom said, in good faith they had allotted enough time to the department and the contractor for commencement of the road but unfortunately, the department failed to respond by turning deaf ear.
PSC lamented that the successive government instead of addressing the plea of the people for early completion, the department had wasted almost nine years without even commencing the construction especially the group C section. They also claimed that the responsible department had set aside of its own commitments and resolutions made to the PSC on October 27, 2011.
In this regard, PSC said it had no other option but to resort to democratic means of agitation to press for their demands. PSC has informed all its units to be mentally prepared and sought the co-operation from stakeholders of Longleng district during the agitation.
