PSU 60th session & seminar held

The 60th Session & Seminar of Phek Students’ Union (PSU), held under the theme “Quality education,” concluded in Phek village on Friday.

Kuzholuzo (Azo) Nienu, MLA, in his address as the inaugural speaker congratulated all successful and meritorious students for their achievements and for making the village and community proud. He said that education was an asset for a life time, but at the same time “illiteracy can become your worst nightmare and a liability for your entire life time.”
On this, he said one must choose between the two in order to have a successful future.
Touching on white collar jobs, self employment and entrepreneurship, Azo stated that the time has come to think outside the box, venture out beyond comfort zones, start businesses, become self dependent and self sufficient, and become an employer rather than an employee.
He also encouraged the students to not solely depend on the government but rely on their own skills and abilities also.
The resource persons of the session were Suohienuo Keyho, senior lecturer State Institute of Rural Development, and Rukuzo Hoshi, post graduate teacher GHSS Medziphema.
They spoke on the topics “Socio economic development through education” and “New Challenges for students in 2019” respectively.
Earlier, a greeting message was shared by Phek Village Council chairman, Chivozo Soho.
The inaugural function was chaired by PSU vice president, Kudezo Vero, and PSU president Kuthovo Chizo delivered a welcome address. The acknowledgement speech was led by PSU general secretary Akuve Soho.
