PSU condemns abduction of religious men

DIMAPUR: The Pochury Students’ Union (PSU) has strongly condemned the alleged abduction of two members of the Don Bosco Congregation on May 13 at Saparmaina. The victims, Bro. Peter Küvisie Poji from the Pochury community and Bro. Aching Paul from the Rongmei community, were reportedly taken around 9:00 PM while travelling from Don Bosco Imphal to Don Bosco Maram.
In a statement, PSU president Rongley Leyri and general secretary Tsiarhotho Thsangkhure described the incident as an “inhumane and cowardly act” against innocent religious persons devoted to serving humanity and promoting peace. It expressed deep concern over their safety and well-being, denouncing all forms of violence, intimidation and unlawful activities targeting civilians.
The Union appealed to civil society organizations, student bodies, churches and citizens to unite in condemning the act and to stand against criminal activities that threaten peace, harmony and human dignity.
Further, it urged law enforcement authorities and concerned agencies to take immediate and appropriate action to secure the safe and unconditional release of the abducted individuals. Reiterating its stance, the union declared that such acts of criminality will not be tolerated under any circumstances.
