DIMAPUR, AUG 19 (NPN): The body of veteran Naga peace activist Niketu Iralu reached Dimapur Airport on Wednesday, where a public homecoming reception was held to honour and bid farewell to the respected Naga elder.
The final funeral service will be held at 12 noon on August 20 at Shalom Bible Seminary, Sechu Zubza.
Organised by Khonoma Rüffûno Nagaland, the reception was attended by hundreds of people from different walks of life, many in traditional attire, who gathered to pay their final respects to Iralu, who passed away at the age of 91.
Tributes were offered by Angami Public Organization president Thejao Vihienuo, Tenyimi Peoples Organization president Timikha Koza, Naga Council Dimapur president GK Rengma, Chakhroma Public Organisation president Zhato Kimho and Fellowship of Naga Baptist Association president Rev. Dr. Visor H. Zeliang.
The reception banner described Iralu as a “Veteran Naga Peace Builder & Conscience Keeper” and carried his words: “When we are ready to see where we too may have provoked others to hurt us, then forgiving and being forgiven becomes possible.”
