PUD appeals advisor to revoke letter to KAAC

Staff Reporter

Poultry Union Dimapur (PUD) has urged Animal Husbandry and Veterinary Services adviser Kazheto Kinimi to reconsider his request letter to the Karbi Anglong Autonomous Council (KAAC), urging him to revoke his letter.

It was learnt that the adviser had on June 17 written a letter to the chief executive member (CEM) of KAAC, requesting a thorough examination of livestock documentation, particularly pertaining to poultry products, to ensure the entry of poultry consignments that were suitable for consumption.

Acknowledging the adviser’s well-intentioned efforts, PUD general secretary Keyigwalunga expressed concerns that certain syndicate operators in Karbi Anglong were exploiting the situation to conduct their operations.
He said he believed that by rescinding the appeal letter, the syndicate’s activities could be halted.

He also emphasised that the responsibility of inspecting consignments entering Nagaland should solely lie with the state’s Veterinary Department, rather than any other state agency.

Meanwhile, PUD president Tiameren Aier reaffirmed the union’s unwavering stance against taxation and external interference concerning poultry consignments destined for Nagaland.

The PUD had initiated an indefinite ban on the import of poultry consignments from Assam starting from August 10 and has entered its sixth day.
