PUDW bans Assam pig import into Wokha dist

Even as the closure of pork butcher shops in Dimapur entered fifth day on Friday, the Pig Union Dealer Wokha (PUDW) has also decided to ban import of Assam local pigs into Wokha district starting from April 29, 2023.
In a press release, PUDW secretary Nyanbemo Murry informed that the union took the decision at its executive meeting held on April 27, 2023 as the rate of pigs was increasing due to Assam government ban on transportation of pigs through the state of Assam.
Extending support to the Pork Butcher Union Dimapur (PBUD), the PUDW warned that stern action would be initiated against the defaulters.
The union has also strongly appealed to the state government to address the issue at the earliest.
