Parliamentary Secretary for soil and water conservation Pukhayi Sumi has called upon the churches across Nagaland to create more awareness on clean elections.
He was second day of the ongoing “revival hour” organised by Sumi Baptist Akukuhou Kuqhakulu- Nito Mount (SBAK-NM) under the theme “heal me” at Luthsumi village, Saturday morning
Exhortation the congregation, Pukhayi stressed on the role of the churches in the society and expressed concern over the prevailing corruption in Naga society especially during elections.
He called upon the churches to work towards educating the public on clean elections saying one should not sell their votes but seek God’s guidance through prayer and elect the right leader.
Pukhayi said that it was also the responsibility of the churches to educate their members to desist from taking money and vote for the right leader who would bring development. Also extended greetings and pleasure for being part of the “historic gathering”, he called upon the Christians to lead an exemplary life saying virtues of a good Christians was being humble, loving and caring.
He then citied the quote “life is better when you are happy but life is best when other people are happy because of you”.
In his sermon, speaker Rev Pradeep Kumar a missionary from Punjab, while stressing on the theme quoted a verse from the Bible John chapter 11:25, Jesus close aid Lazarus’s deliverance from death/tombstone after four days of the latter’s demise.
With Rev. Hukugha Zhimo as the translator, Rev Pradeep narrated the sequences of the Lazarus’s deliverance and exhorted that “with faith we can expect great miracles, healings and resurrections”.
“Christianity is not just a religion but relationship and commitment between the divine and us mortals” said Rev. Pradeep.
In a brief introduction and keynote address, Rev. Hukugha Zhimo through the special guest Pukhayi sent a “strong note to Chief minister, his NLA colleagues and all legislators to follow/practice the clean election system”.
The note stated “we/delegates (6000+) have decided to support clean and fair election system in the entire region and across the state”. He also administered prayers for the guest and all other concerned legislators.
Presentations by SBAK-NM and host village was followed by two very special songs from Tsavipelimi Satakha town Baptist Church and Gospel Hunter’s respectively.
Hundreds of delegates attended the service which was led by Niholi H Shohe and Khekavi Yeptho while the revival songs were led by the Center Church SBAK-NM.
Offerings in aid of SBAK was collected in the service while pastor SBC Naltoqa Town, Rev. Henito Kiba administered the offertory prayers.
