DIMAPUR, OCT 9 (NPN): The Inter-School Sports Meet 2026, organised by the Pungro Sports Association (PSA) under the theme “Planting Dreams, Building Champions,” concluded at Pungro Public Ground on October 9.
Divisional Accounts Officer, Urban Development Department, Nagaland, K. Bendangmoa attended the valedictory session as the special guest.
Addressing the gathering, Bendangmoa highlighted the importance of sports in the holistic development of students and emphasised the need for inclusive and quality education. He urged teachers to identify and nurture students’ talents, enabling them to pursue opportunities at national and international levels.
He stressed that education should go beyond academic achievements, noting that teachers played a vital role in shaping students’ character, confidence and future potential. He also called for sustained efforts to integrate sports with education and provide students with more opportunities to develop their abilities and excel in different fields.
In the Sub-Junior category, GMS Pungro Town emerged as champions, while Mt. Horeb Baptist School secured the runners-up position. Christian School won the Junior category, with GMS Pungro Town finishing as runners-up. In the Senior category, GHSS emerged as champions, while Christian School secured the runners-up position.
The valedictory session commenced with an invocation by EU president of LFHSS and GHSS, Ventsuthong, followed by a welcome address from PSA vice president Renzumew.
PSA general secretary Throngso delivered the vote of thanks. The closing ceremony was led by Around Saramati Mountain School, followed by a benediction pronounced by Jenpusi of Mt. Horeb Baptist School.
